(I will continue to post this every year) 🇺🇸 "Where were you when the world stopped turning?" @Tim_Satterfield and I were driving back from a vacation stay in North Myrtle Beach SC, somewhere between Rockingham NC and Asheboro NC, listening to Big Paul and Eloise on WTQR. I remember thinking their reports of the #911 attacks on the #worldtradecenter on #september11 was a radio bit, like a War of the Worlds, but something in Paul's voice told me differently. We drove straight to the radio station. I remember the eerie feeling of seeing the final jet fly over the station to land at the Greensboro airport before they closed the airspace and the sky was quiet. I remember our entire air staff hugging and Paul praying with us...or maybe that was just with me...to give us comfort. I remember sitting in the studio behind the mic during my shift just waiting for the next attack that thankfully never came. What did start rolling in, however, was news of the loss of lives, the missing loved ones, and the knowledge that the beeping sound during live TV and radio shots was the firefighter PASS signal...signaling they had not moved for more than 30 seconds...signaling most of these #heroes had made the ultimate sacrifice. During our visit the following year on the #911Anniversary when I took this photo, and every year we were there after the local firefighters in North Myrtle Beach SC suites up in full gear and walk the beach in memory of those who lost their lives and to #remember911. They carried the American flags followed by the tattered and faded, but still flying, American flags that were flying on 9/11/01. I know that I will #neverforget, and I am so grateful for them #Remembering911. #GodBlessAmerica
